If You are Using and Pregnant, You Might Consider:
Get prenatal care. Getting prenatal care is extremely important. You do not need to be sober or in recovery before you see a doctor. Your doctor can help you find the resources you need. The doctor will give you care to keep you and your baby healthy.
- Your doctor can help you find a Medication for Addiction Treatment program for Buprenorphine or Methadone, if needed. Keeping you and your baby healthy is your doctor's number one goal! Find pregnancy resources here.
- If you get prenatal care at Shasta Community Maternity Center while you are still using, you will be warmly welcomed by the staff. They will help you connect to drug and alcohol services. They will help you find any other resources you may need. They are there to help you get the best possible pregnancy care.
- Getting prenatal care and help with your substance use before you deliver your baby is important.
Talk to a counselor for free to talk about getting help with no commitment. You can call a local recovery center for a meeting to discuss your situation. The counselor will talk to you about where you are right now in your readiness to make a change. You will not be pressured to enter treatment. Find local treatment and counselors. If you give them a call, they will ask you some screening questions and then help you find a recovery treatment program to fit your needs.
Find support people or groups. Connect with other women in the community to find support and advice. Women's support groups can be found here. Visit the Fun Sober Activities page for ideas on how to stay busy and have fun while in recovery.
Get dental care. If you are pregnant, you will be put on top of the list for a dental visit but the wait time may still be long. Call for an appointment as soon as you can to be put on the waiting list. Be sure to tell them that you are pregnant. Dental care is important during pregnancy. Find local dental care here.
